At a press conference on the eve of last week’s Republican National Convention, several of the country’s most influential Latino advocacy organizations charged the GOP with “enabling” President Trump’s white supremacist agenda.

“Donald Trump, as he announced his candidacy, called us rapists and criminals,” said Danny Friedman, managing director of Voto Latino. “Since taking office, Trump, [U.S. Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell, and [Trump’s top immigration policy advisor] Stephen Miller have engineered ways to impose immense suffering on our community.”

And LULAC President Domingo García said, “President Trump is again taking the low road in politics of playing the race card and using Latinos as political piñatas. His constant damning indictment of Muslims, Blacks and Latinos divides America.”
